原文	Puns are words with similar pronunciations and different meanings. They come about by deliberate invention or accidental coincidence. It is unlikely to identify the origin of puns precisely, as we have used linguistic humor in our communication since ancient times.
中譯	現代經過觀光景點的時候很常看見大群的人手持相機和手機為了記錄當下的自己。社群媒體充斥著這些旅行者的業餘攝影，局勢已經發展到以做紀錄為目的的旅遊已經有名稱了：自拍旅行。通常情況下，比起單純享受景色的人，觀光景點有更多人忙著做拍攝，而這個被社群媒體的吸引力和唯美向的演算法加劇，鼓勵使用者創造出過於完美的自我形象。
原文	Today, people use puns to add funny elements to everyday conversations to lighten the mood. Comedians integrate them with their performances to entertain their audience. Skilled speakers utilize the power of puns to forge a bond with their listeners, turning boring topics into engaging speeches, and advertising agencies employ them to capture the attention of the public and leave a lasting impression on consumers.
中譯	時至今日，人們使用諧音梗緩和日常對話中的緊張感。喜劇演員將諧音梗結合他們的表演以娛樂觀眾。老練的講者借助諧音字的效果建立與觀眾的連結，並將原本無聊的主題轉變成引人入勝的演講。廣告公司藉由諧音梗吸引大眾的眼球，給消費者留下持久的印象。
原文	Yet such behavior has led to criticism of tourist attractions being much less fun than in the past, sometimes even becoming dangerous as photographers struggle to take pictures in increasingly precarious environments.Defenders of selfie taking believe that there is nothing wrong with trying to preserve memories of a moment in their lives, as physical memories of experiences are important for a lot of people. But at the same time, is it possible that over–documenting your life could be depriving you of actual opportunities to experience what is going on around you?
中譯	但這種行為也導致有旅遊景點比過去不好玩的意見，甚至有時候因為攝影師拚命在險峻環境拍照變得更危險。擁護自拍行為的人認為試圖保存自己人生一剎那沒有錯，因為對很多人來說實體回憶的紀錄很重要。但同時，有沒有可能過度紀錄你自己的人生會讓你損失實際體驗周遭的機會？
原文	To give you an example, Why don’t skeletons fight each other? Because they don’t have guts. Guts can mean both courage and internal organs. A sense of humor is created by the play on the word “guts”.
中譯	舉個例子。為什麼骷髏之間不會打架？因為他們沒有膽。"guts"這個字可以是勇氣，也可以是膽、腸道的意思。藉由這樣的文字遊戲，可以產生一種幽默感。
原文	Oh, by the way, what’s more worth noting is that puns can also serve as excellent memory aids. In Taiwan, some teachers come up with interesting puns to help their students memorize some scientific knowledge and historical facts, which makes learning more fun and greatly improves students’ learning efficiency.
中譯	對了，另外值得一提的是，諧音字也是非常棒的輔助記憶方式。在台灣，一些老師會想出一些諧音字，幫助學生記憶一些科學知識及歷史事件。這不僅讓學習變得更加有趣，也增加學生的學習效率。
原文	As you can see, puns prevail for several reasons. Firstly, their adaptability allows them to be deployed in various contexts, whether they are formal or informal. Secondly, crafting puns can be intellectually challenging and surprisingly educational. Additionally, they can strengthen bonds between people because of their humorous nature. We can say that puns not only demonstrate creativity but also put colors in our lives.
中譯	如你所見，諧音字相當普遍，不外乎有以下幾個原因。第一，諧音字具有相當高的適應性，能應用在多種不同的情境，不管是正式或非正式都可以。第二，創造諧音梗除了對腦力是相當大的挑戰，也具有很高的教育意義。此外，諧音梗幽默的特性可以加強人與人之間的連結。可以說，諧音梗除了是創造力的體現，也可以讓我們生活增添許多色彩。
